Hebrew School Administrator/Teacher P/T
8-10 hours per week on Wednesday afternoons, Saturday mornings, and as needed during the week.

The Marsha Dane Stern Hebrew School of Conservative Synagogue Adath Israel of Riverdale (CSAIR) is seeking an Administrator/Teacher to join our dedicated, collaborative, and caring team. You will build Jewish community for elementary/middle school students, teach them the sweetness of Jewish living, and give them the skills to live meaningful Jewish lives. You will share your love of Jewish learning and living with us. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Jewish learning and culture, Hebrew, and be comfortable with Conservative Judaism and traditional egalitarian religious practices. We are seeking an innovative educator who will be thoughtfully experimental and inspired to provide engaging, meaningful, and fun Jewish education to our students.

Our Hebrew school serves ~30 students K-7. We recently transitioned to an innovative model that includes:
Wednesday afternoon classes (in-person)
Small-group Hebrew reading lessons (virtual)
Shabbat morning (in-person)
On Shabbat morning, classes are held and then students participate in a youth service for all members of the robust youth community at CSAIR (Day School, Public/Hebrew, Home School, etc.)

The Lead Teacher/Administrator will collaborate with the Youth Coordinator and teen madrichim around Shabbat morning youth services and other programming.

Our synagogue mission is to nourish joyful and meaningful Jewish living and to build an inclusive community through diverse approaches to learning, prayer, acts of loving-kindness, and the deepening of our relationship with Israel.

Responsibilities:
Develop warm rapport with students and model love of Jewish customs and practices
Plan and implement a comprehensive Jewish curriculum for students in grades K-7 including Hebrew reading, prayer service, traditions of Jewish holidays, Israel, and social action
Deliver engaging weekly lessons that meet the individual needs of students
Help plan, facilitate, and participate in Shabbat morning youth services and holiday programs
Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate qualified teachers
Integrate teen madrichim in Shabbat morning classes and programming
Monitor student achievement and communicate progress to families and staff
Engage with families and collaborate with staff and lay leadership
Assist with marketing and recruitment of students
Manage Hebrew School budget in conjunction with CSAIR staff and lay leadership

You reflect on your work and appreciate feedback. You can multitask and adjust plans when necessary. You have knowledge of and commitment to Jewish living. You are someone who wants to be a part of a thriving and diverse synagogue with a vibrant Shabbat community and many paths of entry for children and adults.

Requirements:
Previous leadership and supervisory experience in Jewish education
Content knowledge and pedagogical skills for teaching Hebrew decoding, core Jewish texts, tefillot (prayer services,) holidays, history, and Israel.
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, and ability to learn ShulCloud software.

The Lead Teacher will report to Rabbi Barry Dov Katz.

Salary Range:
$25,000-$30,000 per year
